NaviNet Leverages Informatica to Deliver the First “Smart” Next-Generation Payer-Provider Communications Network
NaviNet, Inc., America’s largest healthcare communications network community, today announced that it is collaborating with Informatica Corporation, the world’s number-one independent provider of data integration software, to deliver the first “smart” next-generation payer-provider communications network. NaviNet is leveraging Informatica Complex Event Processing (CEP) and Informatica MDM (Master Data Management) to power this “smart” network, which will encourage behavior change at the point of service, with the intent of enhancing clinical encounters.
The NaviNet network leverages Informatica CEP — complex event processing software that helps companies and government agencies of all sizes to take action based on real-time intelligence — to empower payer-provider collaboration through the injection of proactive, real-time clinical information. One high-value use case is hospital discharge, in which NaviNet leverages complex event processing and multi-channel platform-based communication to enable the exchange of information between clinical informatics systems and providers so that optimal care can be delivered. For example, discharge summaries and care plans can be uploaded to Medical Management at the health plan or delivery system, and evidence-based care recommendations can be returned. In this case, the “smart” network detects the emission of an admissions, discharge and transfer (ADT) transaction (whether from the electronic medical record [EMR] or health information exchange [HIE]) and then notifies the accountable providers and the health plan that an attributed member has been discharged from the hospital.
In addition, Informatica MDM (Master Data Management) is enabling NaviNet to rapidly consume provider network data from dozens of heterogeneous sources to create a cleansed, matched, complete, and standardized single source of truth for critical data such as the makeup of care teams in distributed provider locations. This improves the customer experience through enhanced capabilities and data quality.
“Transformed healthcare organizations will deliver higher-value care by putting data to work in all aspects of their enterprises,” said Scott Harper, vice president, Healthcare, Informatica. “NaviNet’s ‘smart’ network truly puts the potential of data to work to better inform payer-provider collaboration and ultimately enhance clinical encounters.”
“I am pleased to announce that NaviNet is working with Informatica to leverage Informatica Complex Event Processing and Informatica Master Data Management,” said Charles Digate, senior vice president, sales, marketing, and business development, NaviNet, Inc. “NaviNet Open’s event-based architecture, in combination with Informatica’s complex event processing technology, enables real-time clinical information exchange at the time of service, triggered by traditional and value-based reimbursement transactions.”
Healthcare payers and providers today must share information in unprecedented ways to achieve their goals of reducing redundancy, cutting costs, coordinating care, and driving positive outcomes. NaviNet’s creation of a “smart” healthcare communications network that connects Big Data informatics systems developed by payers, delivery systems, and software vendors to the heterogeneous provider community enables the sharing of critical real-time intelligence and rapid innovation in response to the quickly changing demands of healthcare reform.
