Gritman Medical Center Goes Live with AtHoc’s Emergency Communication Solution to Ensure the Safety and Security of Staff
Gritman Medical Center is now using an emergency communication system by AtHoc, Inc., the leader in network-centric interactive crisis communication systems.
The system allows Gritman to quickly reach its staff, wherever they are, via email, text, telephone and the AtHoc Mobile Notifier™ in the event of extreme weather, natural disasters, human threats to patients and caregivers and information technology outages for its personnel within acute and ambulatory locations spread across rural Southwest Idaho.
Workplace violence within the healthcare setting is increasing at an alarming rate compared to other industries jumping 23 percent over the past 5 years; weather related impacts to staffing the 24 by 365 operations of an acute care setting; and increasing penetration of clinical information systems throughout both acute and ambulatory care all have increased the need for a reliable, secure, efficient and expeditious way to communicate with personnel during emergent incidents across the healthcare enterprise.
“As a rural health system covering a wide geography, we needed a fast, reliable, effective way of reaching our most valuable resource, our staff, during manmade and natural emergencies to protect themselves and our patients,” said Kane Francetich, Gritman’s Chief Information Officer. “The key advantage AtHoc brings to the table is a two-way communication platform we can build on as our needs increase in the future such as homecare personnel safety, integration with other life safety equipment and advanced mobile application capabilities. The solution was easy to install, learn and begin using taking only a couple of days to begin realizing value.”
“We are proud to assist Gritman Medical Center in their mission to provide safety to its employees and patients as they provide critical healthcare services to the people of Moscow, Idaho and the surrounding area,” said Malcolm Carson, Business Development Manager of AtHoc’s Healthcare Group. “Rural medical centers and hospitals make up the majority of healthcare facilities throughout the United States and are not isolated from the necessity to communicate with their personnel during emergent incidents. We congratulate Gritman for being a leader within the industry by adopting our cloud solution for mass communication and personnel accountability.”
