Aprima EHR Among Earliest Products to Achieve Meaningful Use Stage 2 Certification
DALLAS, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Aprima Medical Software announced today that the company’s EHR solution, Aprima PRM 2014 EHR (electronic health record) and PM (practice management), version 14.0, has received Meaningful Use Stage 2 certification as a Complete EHR for use in ambulatory care settings from InfoGard, an accredited ONC-ACB certification body.
This Complete EHR is 2014 Edition compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ACB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee receipt of incentive payments. Certification was received on August 5, 2013and the certification # is IG-2999-13-0024. Aprima is one of the earliest achievers of Complete Meaningful Use Stage 2 compliance – an arduous process that required the company’s EHR software to successfully pass hundreds of rigorous and detailed tests.
Meaningful Use Stage 2 brings many changes, including higher thresholds of utilization compared to Stage 1, expanded Clinical Quality Measures, and exciting new data exchange enhancements that will allow Aprima providers to seamlessly communicate clinical information with other products serving the healthcare industry. For example, when a provider needs to refer a patient outside of their care, the system will be able to automatically generate a referral document to the referring provider.
Aprima also continues to take the standard requirements for certification and implement them in ways that save even more time for providers, by mimicking real-world daily workflows. For example, users now have an easy way to view a real-time dashboard that shows current Meaningful Use status and clinical quality measures. Unlike many other systems requiring over night batching and updating, or reporting weeks or even months after the fact, Aprima’s Meaningful Use dashboard is real-time and can even be run based on specific timeframes.
As with Stage 1, Aprima expects it will continue to hear from customers how easy it is to achieve Meaningful Use Stage 2 compared with other vendors. In addition to the product’s intelligent navigation and general simplicity of use, Aprima’s Meaningful Use dashboard allows users to accurately track progress for each quality measurement including a real time drill down capability for quick and easy identification of patients’ charts in and out of compliance.
“We expect Meaningful Use Stage 2 certification will further distinguish the top-tier EHR companies from the rest of the pack. In fact, we’re already seeing products being closed down,” said Aprima CEO and president, Michael Nissenbaum. “Last Fall, Allscripts announced that it had opted not to develop or update its Allscripts MyWay™ product to be in compliance with government incentives and requirements such as Stage 2 Meaningful Use, 5010 and ICD-10.”
He added, “For any providers who are concerned about their current vendor’s ability to meet Meaningful Use Stage 2, or who have already found themselves without a solution going forward, now is the time to take a look at Aprima. And for those customers of Allscripts MyWay™ who may still be undecided, the Aprima Rescue Plan™ for Customers of Allscripts MyWay™ – offering a free license and database upgrade – still stands. Over 1,100 former customers of Allscripts MyWay™ have already made the decision to move to Aprima.”
