Allscripts Electronic Health Records Increase in KLAS Scores

CHICAGO, Jan. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Survey results for healthcare research company KLAS indicate that Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) has made initial progress in the company’s stated goal to achieve “Best in KLAS” designation for its electronic health records and population health management solutions for physician groups, hospitals and health systems.

Allscripts TouchWorks, also known as Allscripts Enterprise EHR™, and Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager scores rose in the Ambulatory EMR and Acute Care EMR categories in all of the survey areas utilized by KLAS.  Allscripts TouchWorks had an 11 percent improvement for the 12-month period ended December 2013, and Allscripts Sunrise achieved a 4 percent improvement over the same timeframe. There were also year-over-year increases for both solutions in all KLAS-measured categories, which include sales, training, functionality and upgrades.  Most notable are higher Allscripts scores in the category of “Implementation and Training,” and in the client-focused category of “Service and Support.”

“Early feedback on the latest release of Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager has been positive,” said Taylor Davis, VP of Strategy and Analysis at KLAS.  “Generally, providers are reporting that it has been a clean release and a good step forward.  Allscripts customers are also expressing confidence in Paul Black, and see dbMotion™ and FollowMyHealth™ applications as a move in the right direction.  There is still a lot of road to cover, but things are getting better.”

“The goal at Allscripts is to ensure that our solutions achieve “Best in KLAS,” which goes beyond the rating of the product.  It means we are contributing to improvements in healthcare globally.  I am proud of the gains we’ve made,” said Paul M. Black, President and CEO of Allscripts. “We will continue to focus on quality, innovation and service to deliver the best solutions for our clients and to build healthy populations in which every patient matters and every patient counts.”

Allscripts TouchWorks is a powerful multi-specialty ambulatory solution that offers automated clinical decision support at the point of care, a configurable clinical desktop, and nearly 800 peer-reviewed Care Guides, and is designed to help complex organizations manage their clinical, financial and operational needs.

Ben Gaumer, M.D., Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Catholic Health Initiatives in Englewood, Colo., said “Allscripts TouchWorks has been a very effective solution for Catholic Health Initiatives as it provides the flexibility in design and efficiency with note forms to support customization and the user experience across both primary and specialty care practices.  Providers are involved in customization which increases their level of engagement and resultant adoption.”
