Saline Memorial Hospital Selects Allscripts Sunrise

Saline Memorial Hospital (SMH), located in Benton, Ark., has announced that it will deploy Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) Sunrise platform as its new core clinical system to help coordinate the care, treatment and health of the Central Arkansas community it serves.

SMH has selected Allscripts Sunrise as its core clinical system through 2024. The hospital selected Allscripts after a thorough evaluation of multiple electronic health record (EHR) vendors, choosing the Allscripts Sunrise platform based on extensive feedback from key stakeholders and after reviewing the flexibility and robust clinical functionality of the Allscripts solution.

Allscripts Sunrise provides innovative computerized provider order entry (CPOE) and advanced clinical guidance and features including integrated pharmacy, bar-coded medication administration and a patient portal solution. Allscripts Sunrise is architected with fully integrated population health capabilities. These capabilities are part of an open, community aware EHR that supports a population health strategy to aggregate and organize critical patient data, delivering it seamlessly into the clinicians’ workflow for superior decision-making power.

“Our EHR team reviewed many clinical solutions and, after careful consideration from clinicians and end users, chose Allscripts Sunrise,” said Bob Trautman, Chief Executive Officer, SMH. “Allscripts open platform allows us to be selective about implementing solutions on an as needed basis, rather than undergoing an entire rip-and-replace.”

“We chose Allscripts for their reliability, innovation and for the power and flexibility of their managed services capabilities. We’re confident that Allscripts will be a committed partner in our ongoing success by providing SMH with the best possible HIT solutions and services, which will allow us to provide the best possible care for our patients and community,” Mr. Trautman added.

SMH will also deploy Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care™, a robust surgical solution developed on the Allscripts Sunrise platform. Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care provides a continuous, patient-level record tailored to meet the distinct IT needs of surgery and perioperative care, including pre-operative, orders, and documentation.

Earlier this year, SMH chose Allscripts FollowMyHealth™ as its patient engagement portal and has begun rolling out the solution this summer. Allscripts FollowMyHealth provides patients with convenient online access to health information, allowing users to access needed forms, results, prescription and other critical information.

SMH is a full-service, 177-bed facility that has served Saline County, Arkansas and the surrounding areas for more than 55 years. SMH serves the community as a comprehensive medical center and offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, psychiatric and wound care.

SMH received Healthgrades® Patient Safety Excellence Award two years in a row (2013-2014), placing the hospital within the top 5% of all hospitals for its excellent performance in safeguarding patients from serious, potentially preventable complications during their hospital stays.

“We are very pleased that SMH has chosen Allscripts Sunrise as its new clinical system,” said Paul M. Black, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “The SMH team understands and can fully utilize the power of Allscripts open, interoperable, and flexible solutions to leverage the best features of the Allscripts Sunrise platform. We look forward to our partnership with SMH and to helping this important organization drive the best possible care for patients in Central Arkansas.”
