ONC Honors 6 e-MDs Clients for HIT Achievements

AUSTIN, TX–(Marketwired – Jul 24, 2013) – e-MDs, a leading provider of electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management (PM) solutions, congratulates six clients who have been selected as either a Healthcare IT Champion or Meaningful Use Vanguard (MUVers) by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). These prestigious appointments recognize their impressive health information technology (HIT) achievements, ongoing leadership at the local, state and national levels and their commitment to helping to inspire their colleagues to use HIT innovatively to improve the delivery of quality healthcare to their patients as well as to the broader community.

The ONC selected 28 healthcare professionals who are championing HIT and Meaningful Use efforts at their organizations and in their communities for its Inaugural Health IT Fellows class. These HIT Fellows will provide grassroots insight and critical feedback on the appropriateness, clarity and effectiveness of resources, tools and other technical assistance initiatives offered by the ONC and other organizations. As part of their charge to ensure that Meaningful Use is truly meaningful, they are empowered to ensure that ONC’s communications are realistic, authentic, and clear so they resonate with their colleagues.

Four e-MDs clients have been inducted into the 2013 Fellows class:

MUV is an ONC initiative designed to honor, thank, and bring together providers, office staff and administrators who are making Meaningful Use truly meaningful in their organization and local communities and are helping their peers transition to an HIT-enabled healthcare system. MUVers act as local champions by sharing real-world stories with their colleagues about how they have overcome specific challenges in meeting and leveraging Meaningful Use in meaningful ways.

Two e-MDs clients have been chosen to serve as Meaningful Use Vanguards:

“These talented and dedicated individuals deserve to be recognized for their achievements and unflagging commitment to helping their colleagues and patients realize all the benefits that HIT adoption can offer,” said David Winn, MD, FAAFP, e-MDs CEO and chairman of the board. “Dr. Brull, Dr. Pinho, Dr. Weidman, Drew Jackson, Donna Johns and Steve Stark all epitomize the commitment of our e-MDs’ physician practice clients to use technology to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness of care. I am especially gratified that they are harnessing the power of e-MDs solutions to enable clinicians to transform clinical, financial and quality of life outcomes.”
