Greenway Adopts HIMSS Electronic Health Record Association’s EHR Developer Code of Conduct

September 9, 2013, Carrollton, GA — Greenway Medical Technologies has officially adopted the EHR Developer Code of Conduct issued by the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Electronic Health Record (EHR) Association, a trade group of EHR companies of which Greenway is a founding member.

Developed with assistance from government, healthcare provider and consumer stakeholders, the Code of Conduct signifies adopters’ commitment to support safe healthcare delivery, foster continued innovation and operate with high integrity.

The Code of Conduct focuses on six major topics:

Companies that adopt the Code of Conduct commit to applying the code’s principles through such practices as executive leadership involvement, educating staff regarding Code of Conduct obligation, setting up procedures to monitor business adoption and communicating to company stakeholders their plan and activities related to the Code of Conduct.

The Code of Conduct is a living document to be continually updated in anticipation of innovation, certification and policy advancements in care coordination, functionality and payment and delivery models as a means to evolve and communicate best practices in healthcare information technology.

“As a founding member and highly active participant in the EHR Association, Greenway applauds this important step to codify an industry-wide commitment to safety, innovation and integrity,” said Greenway® President and Chief Executive Officer Tee Green. “We encourage all EHR vendors to adopt the Code of Conduct and to implement its guiding principles company-wide for the greater benefit of healthcare providers and the consumers they serve.”
