Epocrates Scores Access to The Cochrane Library
WATERTOWN, Mass., Nov. 15, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Epocrates, Inc., an athenahealth company (Nasdaq:ATHN), today announced a partnership with The Cochrane Library to bring selections of its internationally recognized evidence-based reviews, editorials and meta-analyses to the Epocrates Rx® application, further informing the clinical choices made by health care providers.
Cochrane joins an esteemed list of content sources for the targeted Epocrates DocAlert® messaging system, including BMJ Publishing Group, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other industry partners. The mobile news channel delivers succinct and actionable content hand-selected by Epocrates medical editors, who have been identifying practice-changing medical news, journal article summaries and health alerts for its members for a decade.
“This is a real win for our million-plus clinician members,” said Dr. Anne Meneghetti, executive director of medical information for Epocrates. “Cochrane has earned its place as a highly respected source by examining bodies of evidence in specific areas, such as the accuracy of a diagnostic test for a specific patient population. I believe it challenges common patterns of care and shines a light on evidence behind commonly held practices, so clinicians can apply optimal judgment in the moments of care.”
