Allscripts Sunrise Platform Continues to Expand

Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) Sunrise hospital clients continue to expand their Allscripts Sunrise EHR footprint, building on the power of the Allscripts platform and demonstrating how enhanced, integrated Allscripts Sunrise solutions are helping clients steward the value-based care transformation.

Allscripts clients are expanding or upgrading with Allscripts Sunrise solutions such as Allscripts Sunrise Ambulatory Care™, Allscripts Sunrise Emergency Care™ and Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care™. There have been 23 new Allscripts Sunrise commitments at client facilities or at new client organizations internationally and in the United States since January 2013, as hospitals continue to recognize the breadth, depth and power of the Sunrise platform.

Allscripts Sunrise is built on the modern technology of a Microsoft SQL platform and can provide lower total cost of ownership while delivering top-tier functionality. By design, Allscripts Sunrise is a platform optimized for decision support first, empowering the client to create the increasingly complex protocols and workflows to support improved patient and financial outcomes and deploy them across all care settings.

A recent upgrade to the Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care enterprise-wide solution provides a continuous, patient-level record specialized to meet the distinct IT needs of surgery and perioperative care, including pre-operative, orders, and documentation.

“Allscripts Sunrise Surgical Care is an exceptional addition to the Sunrise suite,” said Jeff St. Clair, President and Chief Executive Officer of Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Ala. “Full integration and outstanding functionality has helped us improve surgical outcomes as we improve financial and operational efficiencies.”

With greater features and improved performance, the newest version of Allscripts Sunrise Ambulatory Care is a comprehensive solution for clinic and outpatient care designed to help physician practices operate more efficiently through every stage of care and administration. Integrated inpatient and outpatient capabilities, unique to support the ambulatory setting—such as in patient tracking and e-prescribing—allows for more effective care management.

With Allscripts Sunrise Emergency Care, hospitals can execute end-to-end emergency department (ED) management to help reduce wait time and length of stay, and help ED physicians can see patients faster, as well as meet department revenue goals.

“We were looking for a solution that meets the unique operational and care needs of the ED environment,” said Bill Phillips, SVP & Chief Information Officer at University Health System in San Antonio, Tex. “For University Health System, Allscripts Sunrise Emergency Care is a full and robust answer for our ED care and management requirements. Fully integrated with the rest of our healthcare IT infrastructure, it delivers critical information to the point-of-care, facilitating our mission to deliver exceptional care.”

“Our clients are getting tremendous results, seeing first-hand the power of our open, integrated solutions built natively on the singled architected Allscripts Sunrise platform,” said Paul M. Black, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “We are very proud that Allscripts clients are achieving significant benefits for their organizations, patients and communities.”
