Wheeling Hospital Renews and Expands Allscripts Sunrise
Building and expanding its relationship with Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX), Wheeling Hospital renewed its population health-enabled Allscripts Sunrise™ electronic health record (EHR) system through 2021 and agreed to add Allscripts Sunrise Financial Manager™ to its suite of Allscripts open platform solutions.
In addition, Allscripts and Wheeling Hospital will partner on an engagement that is intended to enable the hospital to achieve Stage 7 on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM). EMRAM Stage 7 Certification is based on the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model, a methodology that measures the progress and impact of EHR systems for organizations in the HIMSS Analytics® Database. Allscripts expects to provide education, roadmaps, audits and surveys to build processes and programs intended to help Wheeling Hospital achieve the HIMSS Analytics EMRAM Stage 7 standard.
“We are pleased to renew our relationship with Allscripts and our use of Allscripts Sunrise,” said David Rapp, CIO at Wheeling Hospital. “Allscripts Sunrise has been a sound and innovative solution for Wheeling, helping us to improve outcomes for thousands of patients. Our strategic extension and expansion of Allscripts will support our efforts to achieve our care and regulatory goals.”
Allscripts Sunrise EHR provides innovative computerized provider order entry (CPOE) and features, including integrated pharmacy, bar-coded medication administration and a patient portal solution. The Allscripts Sunrise solution is architected with fully integrated population health capabilities. This proprietary, community aware population health framework aggregates and organizes critical patient data, delivering it seamlessly into the clinicians’ workflow for superior decision-making power.
Allscripts Sunrise Financial Manager is a component of Wheeling Hospital’s extension of Allscripts Sunrise. Allscripts Sunrise Financial Manager is a comprehensive financial solution for hospitals and health systems that helps organizations manage revenue across the enterprise. It provides comprehensive revenue cycle functionality, including revenue capture, billing and receivables management for hospital and hospital-based physician billing. Allscripts Sunrise Financial Manager provides a strong foundation that adapts and expands for new reimbursement and care models such as accountable care organizations (ACOs).
Sean Loy, Director of Clinical Informatics and Technology Development at Wheeling Hospital, said “Allscripts Sunrise has been instrumental to our success. Wheeling Hospital has been able to truly leverage Allscripts open platform in innovative ways enabling new and novel solutions and approaches and helping us to improve clinical outcomes.”
Wheeling also selected Allscripts FollowMyHealth™ patient engagement platform to allow convenient online access to health information. The portal, which integrates with all systems across the enterprise, enables patients or family members to fill out forms, view test results, refill prescriptions, request appointments and communicate with physicians.
Wheeling Hospital, serving the northern panhandle of West Virginia and eastern Ohio, was founded in 1850. The hospital has 276 beds, and the medical staff totals 275 primary care and specialty physicians. Wheeling Hospital intends to leverage Allscripts Sunrise solutions to help meet regulatory requirements and improve patient care at all of its facilities.
“Wheeling Hospital’s extension and expansion of Allscripts highlights the success of our ongoing client commitment efforts,” said Paul M. Black, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “It also underscores the important market momentum of Allscripts Sunrise and that hospitals understand how an innovative, interoperable, connected and population-health enabled platform can help drive positive patient outcomes.”
