ThedaCare Selects Zynx Health Evidence-Based Care Plans
Citing the need to consistently deliver optimal care via a variety of providers, ThedaCare, an Appleton, Wisc.-based healthcare delivery system, has chosen to implement ZynxCare, a clinical decision support solution from Zynx Health. Because the solution’s care plans are integrated directly into Epic, ThedaCare’s EHR system, clinicians can easily access the evidence-based content across the entire care continuum – from acute care to long-term care to outpatient facilities – as part of their established workflow.
“It’s difficult to keep up with constantly changing evidence-based best practices, and then disperse all this information to multiple providers across our delivery system. It is a huge organizational challenge,” said Jodie Ausloos, RN, MSN, EdD, chief clinical information officer at ThedaCare. “ZynxCare gives us confidence that we are working with the most current evidence and we are working from a care plan that supports what each individual patient needs. And we can be assured that all this new evidence is reaching our clinicians quickly – not months after findings have been published.”
ZynxCare enables clinicians to understand evidence changes by distilling new information into digestible, usable and meaningful care plans for the patient. In addition, ZynxCare will help ThedaCare provide clinicians with speedy access to this continually evolving evidence. With its quick time to implementation, ZynxCare is expected to help the seven-hospital integrated delivery system develop care plans in just hours, instead of the months associated with manual care plan development.
A new feature in ZynxCare automates the inclusion of patient education topics, such as anticoagulation drug interactions, in two locations in the Epic EHR – the plan of care and the patient education module – providing access to the most current evidence. This enhancement eliminates two hours of work, on average, per Zynx plan of care update cycle. In addition, the automation eliminates translational errors that are so often associated with manual copy-and-paste update methods. Of equal importance, the enhancement encourages organizations to deliver more comprehensive patient education at the point of care, regardless of whether they are using other patient education tools.
“Utilizing the automation between our content and the Epic technology easily allows organizations to make it possible to provide evidence-based content at the appropriate clinical decision points,” said Bertina Yen, EVP, Product Group of Zynx Health, the market leader in providing evidence- and experience-based clinical improvement solutions. “As a result, provider organizations can zero in on what they do best: actually implementing the best practices at the point of care that will ultimately produce the best outcomes.”
