Modernizing Medicine’s EMA Achieves ONC HIT 2014 Edition EHR Certification from ICSA Labs
Modernizing Medicine announces that EMA version 4.0 has achieved ONC HIT 2014 Edition Complete EHR certification and EMA Mobile version 4.0 has achieved ONC HIT 2014 Edition Modular EHR certification. These certifications designate that the electronic health record (EHR) software is capable of supporting eligible providers and hospitals with meeting the Stage 1 and Stage 2 Meaningful Use measures required to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). EMA version 4.0 and EMA Mobile version 4.0 were certified by ICSA Labs <http://www.icsalabs.com> , an Office of the National Coordinator-Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB), and are compliant in accordance with applicable criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Modernizing Medicine is one of the first EHR system vendors to achieve ONC HIT 2014 Edition Modular Certification for a mobile device, offering the first ambulatory EHR system certified as a base modular application for the iPad.
According to the guidelines set forth by the ONC, Meaningful Use 2014 measures must support significantly higher levels of interoperability, patient access and advanced clinical processes. In addition to EMA’s new certifications, the electronic medical record (EMR) solution also features advanced functionality, including a highly sophisticated coding algorithm that can automate ICD-10 coding.
“At Modernizing Medicine we believe strongly in the value of the foundational functionality set forth by the ONC through Meaningful Use,” said Daniel Cane, CEO, Modernizing Medicine. “The reporting standards serve as drivers to ensure the continued enhancement of patient care, collaboration and physician workflow via EHR systems. At a time when many EMR vendors are unable to comply with the Stage 2 Meaningful Use measures, it was very important for us to not only adhere to, but to actually advance the compliance measures and capabilities set forth by the ONC through the data features of our product.”
ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, offers vendor-neutral testing and certification. 2014 Edition ONC HIT Certification is granted to those technologies that are capable of meeting the more rigorous testing criteria developed to support providers and hospitals who wish to demonstrate Stage 2 meaningful use, which focuses on the capability of health IT to deliver higher quality patient care and exchange clinical information securely.
EMA version 4.0’s certification number is 140055R01 and EMA Mobile version 4.0’s certification number is 140050R01. ONC HIT certification conferred by ICSA Labs does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
