e-MDs Launches PDR BRIEF to Deliver Enhanced Drug Information and Patient Safety Services to EHR System End Users
e-MDs, a leading provider of electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management (PM) solutions, and PDR Network, the leader in FDA-approved patient drug safety and support services for EHR and ePrescribing (e-Rx) platforms, today announced the launch of PDR BRIEF within the e-MDs EHR platform.
“e-MDs is excited to be able to provide our users with the PDR Brief enhanced drug information and patient safety services,” said Chuck Frederick, Executive Vice President, Product Solutions for e-MDs. “Having this information within their EHR workflow right at the point of prescribing will enable e-MDs’ users to improve the quality of care, greatly enhance patient adherence and result in better patient outcomes.”
Together with e-MDs’ industry-leading EHR platform, the PDR BRIEF integration will support providers and their patients while enhancing the overall EHR user experience. e-MDs providers will now have PDR Network’s updated drug information and safety alerts integrated into their EHR workflow through PDR+ for Patients, which supplies patient-appropriate information at the time a prescription is given.
PDR+ for Patients increases the likelihood that patients will fill their prescription and remain on therapy. Using the principles of adherence, it has been designed to improve patients’ understanding of their medication, including the possible medication benefits, when results can be accepted, how progress is measured, and possible side effects and the steps to take to manage them.
The e-MDs EHR, available as a software platform or through the cloud, is used by physicians in nearly every medical specialty. The system supports many workflows unique to individual specialties. The integration of PDR Brief will provide even more customized content for various specialties through the e-MDs’ EHR.
“We are proud to partner with e-MDs – a company consistently recognized by Black Book, KLAS, and others for delivering high-usability EHR platforms and tools designed by providers for providers across specialties,” said Andrew Gelman, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, PDR Network. “By delivering only the most critical drug information needed, concisely and conveniently within workflow at the point of prescribing, PDR BRIEF follows that model, supporting end users with solutions that allow them to provide optimal patient care, while enhancing the safety and functionality of their EHR system.”
PDR BRIEF will be available in early May for the healthcare providers who rely on the e-MDs EHR platform to support their practice productivity.
