Self Care Catalysts Raises $2 Million Seed Round to Develop Breakthrough Patient Intelligence, Informatics and Self Care Platform

Self Care Catalysts, a new patient informatics, intelligence and self care solution provider; today announced it has raised $2M CDN in seed funding. The investment by Prosoft Development Inc., a privately-owned company that invests in information technology, software development, consulting and solutions for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, will fund further development of Health Storylines™, a mobile and web-based patient intelligence, analytics and self care platform, and Patient Storylines™ an enterprise data and behavior analytics platform. Health Storylines™ and Patient Storylines™ together shift the power to patients by providing them with new insights and data as they travel through their disease journey, and translate aggregated patient intelligence data into actionable insights.

Self Care Catalysts has raised a total of $2.7M to date since it pivoted from a patient research company to healthcare informatics.

“Self care and patient advocacy are two of the most important trends in healthcare and healthcare informatics today,” says Self Care Catalysts CEO, Grace Soyao. “They can play a critical role in driving down healthcare costs, facilitate better treatments and drug therapies, accelerate care in clinical settings, drive drug development, open market access and reduce re-admission rates. In the past, patients have been mere participants in the healthcare process, excluded from active participation in healthcare decision-making. Our Health Storylines platform shifts the power back to patients, allowing them to take control over their disease journey by providing a vehicle where they can tell their own stories, tap into insight and daily guidance, and connect to their circle of support.”

Self Care Catalysts is actively working with pharmaceutical companies, research foundations and patient advocacy organizations to bring Health Storylines™ to patient communities. The company’s management team has an extensive pharmaceutical, medical/healthcare background honed at such organizations as Procter & Gamble, Pfizer and Novartis. Company founder and CEO Grace Soyao was named a top innovator, Healthcare IT at the 2013 Young Ventures Summit, and one of the most promising female entrepreneurs, Springboard Enterprises’

Life Sciences class of 2013. Self Care Catalysts was selected to participate in two Canadian Technology Accelerators – in Philadelphia and San Francisco, in 2014.
