New York’s Northern Medical Specialists Selects eClinicalWorks

eClinicalWorks, a leader in ambulatory healthcare IT solutions, today announces that New York’s Northern Medical Specialists has selected eClinicalWorks’ comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) solution for its 70 providers. Designed to improve care coordination, the technology provides specialty-specific features as well as aiding the organization in quality initiatives, including Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) program for meaningful use, National Center for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition and CMS program Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS).

“Northern Medical Specialists is dedicated to meeting our patients’ needs wherever and whenever our patients need us,” said Dr. Maddipoti J. Choudry, head of board of directors for Northern Medical Specialists. “We needed a new system that could handle our growth and manage care across locations. Our physicians found eClinicalWorks to be the most user-friendly, and we believe eClinicalWorks will help us continue to enhance patient care through the flexible, intuitive nature of the technology. Using this system will also help us navigate several quality initiatives, including meaningful use, CPC, PCMH and PQRS.”

Northern Medical Specialists has four sites participating in the Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) initiative, a four-year multi-payer program designed to improve care, better health for populations and lower costs in the United States. The meaningful use of health information technology is key to achieving CPC milestones, which will inform future Medicare and Medicaid policy. After a thorough search, eClinicalWorks is the only software Northern Medical Specialists found that incorporated CPC goals and reporting into its EHR.

In addition to a large primary care practice, Northern Medical Specialists has specialties that include cardiology, nuclear cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, endocrinology and nephrology. The eClinicalWorks EHR includes features and templates customized for more than 50 specialties and sub-specialties, including 26 worksheets for cardiology alone, to aid multi-specialty groups in standardizing on an EHR that is beneficial to all specialties represented. The solution will also assist to improve continuity of care across multiple settings, allowing critical information to be accessible at the point-of-care.

“eClinicalWorks has a proven track record in successfully deploying multi-specialty practices,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “The comprehensive nature of eClinicalWorks and our experience make us a great fit for multi-specialty practices. We look forward to working with Northern Medical Specialists to assist in improving care and reaching its quality of care goals.”
