Kareo Expands Leadership Team to Support Rapid Growth

IRVINE, CA – November 5, 2013 – Kareo, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based medical office software and services for small medical practices, announced today that David Mitzenmacher has joined the company as Vice President of Customer Success and Nitin Somalwar has joined the company as Vice President of Engineering. Both roles are new to Kareo and mutually focused on building an experience for medical practices that seamlessly combines Kareo’s technology and services, reinforcing the company’s role as the independent physician’s trusted partner for EHR, practice management, and medical billing solutions.

“We’re very fortunate to expand our leadership team with two individuals who bring extensive relevant experience coupled with an unwavering focus on building truly outstanding customer solutions,” said Dan Rodrigues, CEO and founder of Kareo. “Both David and Nitin will immediately contribute to our vision of enabling small practice success through Kareo’s delivery of intuitive, affordable, and well-supported solutions.”

Mitzenmacher comes to Kareo with an impressive track record of building customer-centric organizations and will be responsible for customer experience and support. Most recently, Mitzenmacher served as Chief Customer Officer of Volusion where he built an award-winning “out-of-this-world” customer care organization. His efforts helped establish Volusion as the leader in cloud-based e-commerce software for small businesses. Prior to Volusion, he was a key customer support executive at Rackspace, an industry leader in hosting and cloud services known for its highly differentiated “fanatical” support.

“Increasingly, private practice success is about building and managing provider-patient relationships,” said David Mitzenmacher. “I look forward to applying my customer experience and support expertise to help Kareo provide products and services that allow providers to focus more on patient care than on the demands of practice administration.”

Somalwar brings unparalleled expertise in product development, engineering leadership, and the building of scalable technology platforms. He comes to Kareo from Flurry, a fast-growing, venture-backed company providing the market-leading mobile analytics software. Prior to Flurry, he was at Castlight Health, which was named #1 on the 2011 Wall Street Journals list of top 50 venture-backed companies. Somalwar also held key engineering leadership positions at Salesforce.com, Quest Software, and Pictage.

“I’m energized by the opportunity to contribute to the significant growth and advancement of Kareo and its customers,” explains Nitin Somalwar. “I look forward to expanding Kareo’s world-class engineering team, extending a technology platform that enables the rapid development of cloud-based products, and delivering the innovative features and functionality that our private practice customers need to prosper.”

Enabling the success of Kareo’s independent practice customers is the key driver behind expanding the company’s leadership team. Small practices face many challenges in today’s healthcare environment from Meaningful Use and ICD-10 to new reimbursement models and increasing patient expectations. Mitzenmacher and Somalwar will play key roles in helping Kareo support private practices as a trusted partner that can help them manage through the uncertainty of the current healthcare environment.
