Amazing Charts User, Dr. Galen Chock, Receives Health IT Leadership Award

North Kingstown, RI – October 2, 2013 – Amazing Charts.com, LLC, a leading developer of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, today announced that client Dr. Galen Chock, pediatrician and co-chair of the KaHuliau Medical Home Task Force of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Hawaii Chapter, received the 2013 Inaugural Health IT Leadership Award, presented by the Hawaii Health Information Exchange (HIE).

The award recognizes physicians in Hawaii who have demonstrated leadership in deploying health information technologies (HIT) and who serve as examples for how to maximize the use of HIT in ways that improve patient care and outcomes.

“As a solo pediatrician, to receive the Inaugural HIT Leadership Award is more a reflection of the value that my EHR, Amazing Charts, brings to my practice and by extension, to my patients,” said Dr. Chock. “Amazing Charts has helped me become more efficient in my patient encounters and has given me experience and time to be able to engage our community of pediatricians.”

After implementing Amazing Charts, Dr. Chock found it easier to search and view lab results prior to a patient visit and noticed a decline in his staff’s administrative workload. He currently uses Amazing Charts to track and monitor specific patient conditions by:

  • Tracking physical activity, nutritional counseling, and Body Mass Index (BMI) percentage – all part of the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measurement prebuilt into the Amazing Charts Health Maintenance module;
  • Creating health maintenance rules that allow Dr. Chock to track the Children with Special Health Care Needs Screener© (CSHCN), which is part of a local PCMH transformation metric; and,
  • Creating a health maintenance rule to help Dr. Chock follow care protocols for patients diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
