2013 mHealth Summit Launches First Pharma and Life Sciences Roundtable

WASHINGTON, Nov. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The 2013 mHealth Summit will introduce an exclusive Pharma and Life Sciences Roundtable and expanded conference programming dedicated to the intersection of pharmaceuticals and life sciences with mobile health at this year’s event in D.C.

The mHealth Summit Pharma and Life Sciences Roundtable, presented by HIMSS and PharmaVOICE and in partnership Pfizer Inc, Johnson & Johnson and Arent Fox, will convene pharma and life sciences leaders with others in the mHealth ecosystem for a full-day event scheduled for Wednesday, December 11, 2013. At the Roundtable, key stakeholders – including payors, providers, patients, innovators and pharmaceutical and life sciences professionals – will come together to identify opportunities for collaboration in an open exchange of knowledge and cross-sector insights for building outcome-driven mHealth strategies and reducing barriers to adoption. Highlights and outcomes from the Roundtable will be summarized and published after the event to serve as a resource that will inform and enrich the mHealth dialogue as it relates to patient-centered and outcomes-based healthcare delivery models.

“We look forward to working with all stakeholders at the mHealth Summit’s Roundtable,” says Stuart Sowder, Vice President of External Medical Communications for Pfizer Inc. “Pharmaceutical companies have a wealth of knowledge about our products and the diseases we treat and this knowledge applies to health outcomes and supports the work that Pfizer has already done in the area of mobile health.”

“The Roundtable is a first-of-its kind forum that will bring together pharmaceutical companies with others in the healthcare landscape – sectors that traditionally operate independently of one another – and foster true collaboration. The goal is to create a clear call to action and next steps for integrating pharma, life sciences and clinical research into mHealth initiatives that are aimed at improving patient outcomes,” said Rich Scarfo, Vice President, Events at HIMSS Media and Director of the mHealth Summit. “The forum demonstrates the purpose of the mHealth Summit – to serve as a forum to convene a group of leaders not found anywhere else to develop high-impact mHealth initiatives in a collaborative manner.”

The 5th Annual mHealth Summit, taking place in Washington, D.C. from December 8-11, 2013, is the largest global conference and expo focused on the intersection of mobile/wireless and healthcare delivery that draws organizations, speakers and attendees from 60 countries across every sector – including pharmaceuticals, healthcare providers and technology companies.

The Summit will feature a Pharma and Life Sciences track that will explore the role of new and innovative mobile technologies in advancing trial data management and the way drug candidates are identified. The pharma component to the mHealth Summit is aimed at fostering dialogue and facilitating the integration of pharma, life sciences and clinical research into mobile health initiatives, aimed at improving patient and consumer outcomes.
